Capital Project Manager – Capital Projects Responsibilities
Serve as the owner of the technical lifecycle of new manufacturing equipment for the CSMC Capital Projects organization. Drive alignment across Business Units to ensure seamless machine readiness and integration into production.
End‑to‑End Equipment Engineering Ownership- Own CEPO engineering activities including IR inputs, specification creation, requirements documentation, and technical coordination.
- Lead machine drawing reviews (2D/3D) ensuring design compliance, manufacturability and interface requirements.
- Ensure EHS compliance throughout engineering phases of machine build and installation.
- Own all pre‑installation engineering requirements: foundation drawings, utility requirements and interface specifications, supplier technical contacts and coordination.
- Lead or participate in machine SAT/FAT activities and close all punch‑list actions.
- Collaborate with suppliers, PMs and Facilities on technical machine build reviews, acceptance criteria and installation sequencing.
- Provide engineering oversight and troubleshooting during installation, prove‑out and startup.
- Provide hands‑on technical support to MEs during equipment readiness, prove‑out and transformation activities.
- Lead programming‑related engineering support (as applicable).
- Coordinate fixtures, tooling and equipment interface requirements for new machinery.
- Serve as the primary engineering contact for vendor technical support during build and startup.
- Ensure technical process alignment between Business Units through Transformation Offload.
- Track process improvements and assess their impact on production plans and technical readiness.
- Implement CORE standards and lead engineering contributions to continuous improvement.
- Partner closely with Operations, Facilities, EHS, Digital, Quality and Project Managers to ensure equipment readiness.
- Participate in risk identification and mitigation planning across technical and operational stakeholders.
- Communicate engineering status, issues and progress to leadership.
- Full lifecycle exposure to advanced manufacturing equipment from concept to commissioning.
- Hands‑on technical experience with machine programming, tooling integration and engineering troubleshooting.
- Deep knowledge of CEPO processes, technical drawings, machine requirements and supplier engineering coordination.
- Understanding of machine installation readiness: utilities, foundations, interfaces and EHS considerations.
- Application of CORE, Lean and continuous improvement methodologies to equipment engineering.
- Insight into module center operations, material flow, equipment maintenance coordination and production workflows.
- Growth in cross‑business alignment, supplier engagement and readiness planning.
- Occasional travel, including support for East Hartford HFB Module Center alignment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Project Management or a related field and a minimum of 8 years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations, production, project management, quality or related environment.
- Or a Master’s degree and 5 or more years of experience in a related environment.
- Experience reading and interpreting equipment drawings, part prints and facility layouts.
- Experience supporting machine installations, equipment startup or manufacturing engineering processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel and Project.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple technical priorities in a fast‑paced, production‑oriented environment.
- Strong communication and technical problem‑solving skills with the ability to work across engineering, operations and supplier teams.
- Engineering degree (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Aerospace or a related technical field).
- Experience with CEPO, IR, spec development or machine build technical reviews.
- Experience leading or supporting SAT/FAT activities.
- Familiarity with SAP, Solumina or other MES/procurement systems.
