Mechanical Design Engineering Intern
Instrumentation Design Engineering (IDE) within the Development Operations department is seeking a mechanical design engineering intern for the summer of 2027. Our group designs some of the most advanced instrumentations ranging from accelerometer brackets, major station probes, blade tip clearance probes and slip ring packages through optical blade tip timing probes and fan blade out packages. Our hardware is used to collect data during the testing of every engine in the Pratt and Whitney portfolio.
Employee will work collaboratively with the instrumentation design staff to complete projects of varying complexity.
You will learn various types of instrumentation, and the tools our team uses to deliver quality designs. This includes modeling, drafting, analysis, and configuration management software packages.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
Experience with CAD modeling and drafting tools (NX preferred).
Experience with structural analysis software and methods (ANSYS preferred).
Ability to execute standard work under regular supervision.

Relocation Eligibility
The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
