Duties
JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to report to the JFHQ (St) IG on discipline, efficiency, morale, economy, training, and readiness of the State National Guard. Provides assistance to Soldiers, Airmen, and their family members on a wide range of issues and subjects. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard.
Applicants who are not currently a member of the Connecticut Army National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Connecticut Army National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to:
* Participates in DOD/DA/State inspections, inquiries, and investigations to perform review, analysis, evaluation, staffing and coordination.
* Conducts investigations of allegations made and problems or deficiencies identified during the course of inspecting JFHQ (State) or unit operations relating to areas assigned.
* Develops/interprets policies and published guidance throughout the JFHQ (St) and to the IG.
* Prepares and reviews periodic and recurring IG reports and analysis' of deficiency trends for the JFHQ (St) presents these trends to the IG and or JFHQ (St) leadership.
* Processes complaints and requests for assistance emanating from personnel within the State and investigates or inquires to substantiate alleged or suspected instances of non-compliance of individuals or organization with laws, rules, regulations, executive orders, or other mandatory regulatory requirements. CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
You will be required to serve a 2-year trial period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In determining if your employment advances the public interest, we may consider:

- the needs and interests of the agency;
- whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and - whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service. Upon completion of your trial period your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest. * Incumbent is required to serve a 2-year trial/probationary period.
* National Guard Membership is required.
* Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
* Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
* Must meet Compatible Military Assignment within one year from placement.
* Wear of the military uniform is mandatory.
* Direct Deposit is mandatory.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
* Must possess a valid state drivers license. Qualifications GENERAL
EXPERIENCE:
All series personnel must be competent at the next higher level before being eligible for that level. An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade. SPECIALIZED
EXPERIENCE:
Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 36 months of specialized experience in the following:
* Experience demonstrating an understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.
* Experience demonstrating the ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, policies and procedures.
* Experience demonstrating the ability or have endorsements that indicate the ability to perform and learn the cited duties.
* Experience in planning for and executing inspector general programs and using software data systems.
* Experience in the procedures to inspect and report on the state of discipline program efficiency and effectiveness, and readiness of military and civilian forces.
* Experience demonstrating working as the primary inspector general advisor with responsibilities to plan, direct, and manage inspector general programs.
* Experience conducting investigations and inspections to ensure compliance with agency policies, practices, and regulations.
* Experience providing policy, guidance, oversight, and directions for the inspection programs; complaints resolution;
Fraud, Waste, and Abuse; strategic plans and programs; and the Commander's Inspection Program.
* Experience demonstrating an understanding the inspector general program concepts and policy regulations.
* Experience demonstrating skill in the development of programs, procedures, and methods to implement, evaluate, and maintain the inspector general program.
