Position
Systems Engineer I
Responsibilities- Support SWFTS re-architecture activities, including system decomposition, interface definition, and architectural updates
- Support engineering activities within NUWC and DoD operational environments, ensuring alignment with mission and system performance requirements
- Assist in development and refinement of logical data models and system representations supporting tactical systems
- Contribute to integration of AI/ML-enabled capabilities, including data preparation, model evaluation, and operational alignment
- Support requirements analysis, traceability, and verification across re-architecture efforts
- Assist in development of technical artifacts, including architecture diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), and data flow representations
- Support configuration management and risk management activities associated with system modernization
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across systems engineering, software, cybersecurity, and data domains
- CompTIA Security+
- CompTIA Network+
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) (Routing & Switching track)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 1-2 years of relevant technical experience, which may include systems engineering support, data analysis, IT systems, or cybersecurity-related activities
- Active Secret Security Clearance
- Exposure to Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML) concepts, including data analysis, model evaluation, or applied coursework/projects
- Foundational understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes, including requirements development, design, integration, testing, and sustainment
- Familiarity with system architecture concepts and structured engineering approaches, including decomposition, interfaces, and data flows
- Working knowledge of programming or scripting such as Python, C++, R, or similar
- Understanding of data structures, databases, or data processing techniques relevant to system design and analysis
- Ability to work within a collaborative technical environment, contributing to problem‑solving and development of engineering artifacts
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Experience supporting system re-architecture, modernization, or integration efforts within complex or distributed systems
- Exposure to Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML) concepts, including data analysis, model evaluation, or applied academic or project-based experience
- Experience with data modeling, logical data structures, or enterprise data environments
- Familiarity with Dev Sec Ops or Agile development practices, including version control and continuous integration workflows
- Experience with tools and platforms such as Linux, Git, Docker, VMware, or cloud‑based development environments
- Experience supporting DoD enterprise systems, data environments, or operational IT platforms
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, including secure system design, vulnerability management, or risk mitigation approaches
- Experience developing technical documentation and system artifacts, such as architecture diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), or data flow diagrams
- Ability to contribute to cross‑functional engineering teams, including coordination across software, systems, data, and cybersecurity disciplines
