Maintainer; Driver​/Equipment Operator Second Shift

Introduction

Are you looking to work in our state providing safe and secure transportation for children and families? If so, join the State of Connecticut, Department of Children and Families (DCF) as a Maintainer (Driver/Equipment Operator).

Location: Middletown, CT
Shift: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week – initial schedule 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday (may include holidays and weekends)
Note: Daily travel required.

• Transport individuals served by the agency, including children, adults, and special‑needs populations.
• Operate and maintain vehicles and equipment used in daily work.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and tools.
• Record keeping and preparation of basic reports such as mileage and incident reports.
• Follow oral and written instructions, policies, and procedures.

Any experience or training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above.

• Experience working with transportation of children, adults, and special‑needs populations.
• Basic record‑keeping and reporting experience.
• Experience writing incident reports.

• Ability to lift moderate to heavy weights.
• Exposure to extreme weather conditions.
• Risk of injury from equipment and potentially abusive clients.
• May require completion of asbestos removal training and use of protective equipment.
