Snow Elementary School

Hours

8:15 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. (Monday – Friday) Follow School Year Calendar

Qualifications
  • Current Connecticut RN licensure required.
  • CPR/AED certification required.
  • Capable of independent, critical thinking during medical emergencies.
  • Maintain general school nursing services from within the school health office.
  • Committed to population health including implementing/supporting physical and mental health initiatives.
  • Walk hallways of significant distance in a timely manner; mild to moderate lifting.
  • Scope of practice: ambulatory through special care needs for nursing.
  • Previous school nursing experience preferred.
  • Pediatric nursing experience may substitute for school nurse experience depending on skills/experience.
Minimum Education

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing required.

Minimum Work Experience

Prior pediatric, school nursing, or acute care experience preferred.

Required Licenses / Certifications
  • Possession of a valid State Nursing (RN or LPN) license required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.
Job Requirements
  • Display flexibility to meet operational demands of the department.
  • Adhere to and model organizational values and Work Pillars.
  • Interact with students, families, co‑workers, and public in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Successfully utilize Power School program.
  • Successfully utilize CTSEDS platform.
  • Successfully utilize Google suite of programs.
  • Knowledge of federal and state education laws, including Title IX, Carl Perkins Act, IDEA, and state‑specific reporting requirements.
  • Prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Use Relay/Medicaid online platform.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community providers.
  • Proficiency in G‑tube feedings, medication administration, tracheostomy care and suctioning, catheterization (clean and sterile), and emergency response procedures.
  • Work independently and respond quickly in high‑pressure situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
