Shift: 2nd Shift – 2:45 PM to 11:15 PM

The State of Connecticut is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (Psychiatric/Behavioral Health) to provide specialized nursing care in a behavioral health setting. This role involves delivering comprehensive patient care, conducting nursing assessments, developing and implementing care plans, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality treatment for individuals with behavioral health needs.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing patient evaluations.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
- Provide direct nursing care and medication administration.
- Complete admission and discharge assessments and coordinate continuing care.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records.
- Ensure proper storage, administration, and documentation of medications and controlled substances.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and patient care conferences.
- Support patients through individual, group, and family therapeutic interventions as appropriate.
- Manage assigned caseloads while collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain compliance with state regulations, accreditation standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in crisis intervention and other patient support activities as needed.
- Active Connecticut RN License or qualifying Multistate RN License.
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) may substitute for one year of required experience.
- Previous experience in a Behavioral Health or Psychiatric Hospital.
- Experience caring for youth with complex psychiatric or behavioral health conditions.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of psychiatric nursing principles and behavioral health practices.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent documentation and patient care coordination abilities.
- May be required to safely lift, transfer, or assist patients.
- May participate in patient restraint procedures when clinically appropriate.
- May be exposed to infectious diseases and challenging patient behaviors in a behavioral health environment.
- 12-week contract assignment
- No weekend requirements
- 40 hours per week with potential overtime
- Six immediate openings
- Stable weekday schedule with second-shift hours
