Job SummaryUrgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu‑like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. Functioning in lieu of or alongside a physician, an urgent care Advanced Practitioner must have excellent assessment skills to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room when necessary.
Per Diem employees must be available to work 3 days in every 28‑day block, including 1 weekend shift.
Job Requirements- Education
- Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
- Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
- Work Experience
- One (1) year of full‑time experience in Emergency Medicine or in an Urgent Care setting required.
- Required Licenses/Certifications
- National Certification
- Active state medical licensure
- Additional Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
(Required)- Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred.
- Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting, etc.
- Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required.
- Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required.
- Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Preferred)
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records.
- Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Essential Functions
- Examining and treating patients.
- Taking patients' medical histories.
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays.
- Making diagnoses and prescribing medications.
- Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting.
- Recording progress notes for follow‑up patients.
- Educating and counseling patients.
- Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients.
- Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care.
- Each provider will work an anticipated eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift assigned by an authorized representative of GoHealth Urgent Care.
- All other duties as assigned.
