Infusion Nurse

• Provide patients with safe, quality care throughout treatment and the disease process.
• Review, update, and verify required patient data before and during each visit.
• Collaborate with physicians/providers to assess and treat symptoms, disease progression, treatment effects, and acute illnesses.
• Perform telephone triage using critical assessment skills.
• Start peripheral IVs and manage central venous access devices, including implanted ports.
• Mix and administer chemotherapy and other drugs according to COG standards after training and competency validation.
• Administer and document chemotherapy, biological, targeted, and applicable research-study therapies.
• Follow drug-cabinet policies for verification, administration, documentation, and billing.
• Document service charges and medications administered.
• Collect ordered laboratory specimens promptly.
• Manage prescription and refill-extension requests.
• Assist with provider-performed procedures such as bone marrow and skin punch biopsies.
• Educate patients and document readiness to learn and understanding of information provided during informed consent.
• Complete patient-assistance, employment, insurance, FMLA, and disability paperwork.
• Screen patients for needs or distress, provide counseling and interventions, and make appropriate referrals.
• Navigate and document patient information and services in the EMR.
• Complete drug and supply inventories, supply requests, waste documentation, audits, billing entries, and clinical reports.
• Inform the Clinic/Operations Manager of clinic needs and work-environment concerns.
• Stock and manage inventory and supplies.
• Adhere to practice standards, policies, and procedures.
• Travel to other COG clinics as needed.
• Participate in committees and focus groups.
• Complete assigned training, continuing education, and competency validations on time.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Current Registered Nurse state license.
• Current BLS provider card.
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience.
• Knowledge of nursing principles and practices.
• Knowledge of cancer diagnosis, oncology practices, standards, and treatments.
• Ability to administer chemotherapy and other treatment therapies.
• Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to empathize with patients and families and handle grief and challenging patient/visitor interactions.
• Ability to collaborate with the healthcare team on personalized cancer treatment plans.
• Oncology experience preferred.
• BSN preferred.
• Oncology certification preferred.
• Ability to complete required training and competency validations.

Demonstrates expertise in oncology nursing, including the administration of chemotherapy and management of patient care throughout the treatment process. Proficient in collaborating with healthcare teams and utilizing critical assessment skills for effective patient triage and education.
