The Fisher Laboratory in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Wesleyan University seeks a full-time Research Technician.
Reporting to the Professor of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, the Research Technician will join an NIH-funded research group dedicated to investigating the structure and function of bacterial proteins involved in copper homeostasis and transcriptional regulation.
Responsibilities- Execute research projects using standard techniques in molecular biology and biochemistry (protein expression and purification, gel electrophoresis, biochemical and biophysical assays)
- Maintain a detailed lab notebook documenting all experimental work
- Maintain inventory records and purchase supplies
- Supervision of undergraduate work‑study students
- Other duties as assigned

This is an on‑campus position.
Funding for this position has been approved for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year.
Minimum Qualifications- B.S. or B.A. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry or a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- Experience with protein production and in vitro assays.
- Demonstrate strong organization and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Demonstrated commitment to working within a diverse environment and ability to build effective collaborative relationships.
- Experience in structural biology or bioinorganic chemistry.
Compensation: $22.41/hr.
- $25.95/hr all offers to external applicants are contingent on the completion of a pre‑employment background check screening.
