Lab Coordinator, Wesleyan University
The Cognitive Development Lab and the Reasoning and Decision Making Lab at Wesleyan University (Dr. Hilary Barth and Dr. Andrea Patalano) announce a full-time joint Lab Coordinator position. The Lab Coordinator will assist with studies of child and adult cognition, including NSF-funded collaborative work on numerical cognition. The Lab Coordinator will also assist with other general duties in each lab.
Responsibilities include:- Oversee undergraduate research assistants, including support with study development, data collection/management, statistical analysis, and reporting of findings.
- Recruiting and scheduling participants
- Maintaining a participant family database
- Coordinating relationships with local collaboration sites such as children's museums
- Data management and analysis
- Implementing online and in-person studies (study preregistration, IRB submissions, study programming)
- Running participants through studies
- Supporting a positive research group culture
- Conducting literature searches
- Assisting with the preparation of conference abstracts, manuscripts, and grants
- Other duties as assigned
The Lab Coordinator will have the opportunity to be directly involved in research, to earn authorship on journal articles, to attend research conferences, and to participate in other professional development activities.
This is an on-campus position. Funding for this position has been approved for one year with the possibility of extending to a second year.
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- Prior research experience in psychological science.
- General computer skills and statistical software experience (such as Microsoft Excel, SPSS, R, Qualtrics).
- Exceptional organizational skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, quantitative skills, and attention to detail.
- Intellectual interest in the labs' research areas.
- Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact openly with individuals of different backgrounds.
- Experience in a developmental psychology lab using experimental methods.
- Programming skills.
