Position Overview

Salesperson

Middletown, CT;
Berlin, CT;
Bristol, and Newington, CT

Commission only.

• 5‑day work week (flexibility for weekends/holidays)
• Flex start: 7:00‑3:30, 8:00‑4:00, 9:00‑5:00

• Develop relationships of trust and respect with customers' store management in assigned accounts.
• Relate pertinent order information and coordinate lead times with store management/customers.
• Make sales and place orders to ensure merchandise remains stocked to capacity.
• Observe displays and merchandise for competitive products on store shelves and identify opportunities.
• Check in all service orders and write adjustments such as credits or charges for shortages, overages, or mis‑ships.
• Work with store management/customers to resolve and discuss opportunities to develop sales and improve merchandising.
• Maintain price changes and price tags in assigned accounts.
• Sell displays and shippers by presenting promotions and deals to store management/customers.
• Call on assigned stores to make orders for the assigned territory, which could include any product category available for service.
• Keep back stock to a minimum and maintain it in an orderly fashion in the back room of the store.
• Perform routine maintenance in assigned departments, such as cleaning shelves and removing soiled products, and front the departments on all store calls.
• Stock and merchandise ordered products in assigned stores and departments.
• Build and put up displays or shippers, ensuring all are properly signed.
• Travel required; role requires transportation to get to and from work.

• Office: temperature about 65°F–75°F.
• Store: temperature about 65°F–75°F.
• Travel: on the road.

• Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers.
• Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations and respond promptly to customer needs.
• Willingness to solicit customer feedback to improve service.
• Communication skills including speaking clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
• Capability to read and interpret written information and comprehend simple instructions.
