The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), Office of the Commissioner (OOC) is seeking two dedicated Building and Grounds Patrol Officers to provide essential security services on state property.

• Enforce parking and traffic control regulations.
• Direct state property traffic and issue tickets for violations.
• Provide information and assistance to visitors.
• Guard entrances and exits to prevent trespassing, vandalism, theft, and other violations.
• Perform routine vehicle and foot patrol duties; monitor security and alarm systems.
• Provide security escorts and first aid when needed.
• Dispatch and maintain record‑keeping functions at a desk post.
• Assist in maintaining order among patients at state hospitals.
• Assist in searching for missing patients.
• Oversee activities of fellow officers as designated and assist in fire prevention and firefighting activities.
• Perform related duties as required.

• Any experience or training that provides the skills and abilities indicated above.

• Experience working in security and public safety.
• Experience with face‑to‑face interactions with the public.
• Experience guarding entrances and preventing trespassing.
• Experience in hospital security.
• Experience in a health‑care facility.

• May be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
• May be required to obtain and maintain a Standard First Aid Certificate and/or CPR certification.

• General good health, free from disease or injury that would impair job performance; sufficient physical strength, stamina, agility, and endurance; visual and auditory acuity to perform duties.
• May be required to pass a physical examination.

Exposures may include extended periods of walking and standing while on foot patrol and guard duty, and potential danger of injury while performing duties.
