Position Overview

DMHAS is hiring three Protective Services Trainees (Police) to begin a career in law enforcement. The role is the entry‑level training pathway to become a DMHAS Police Officer, responsible for protecting life and property across our facilities.

• Ensure safety of employees, patients, and visitors at DMHAS facilities.
• Respond to incidents, providing professional and compassionate service.
• Enforce laws, regulations, and safety protocols in a clinical environment.
• Participate in academy and field training during a probationary period.

• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• 21 years of age or older.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
• Ability to pass a physical fitness assessment and criminal background check.
• Willingness to work all shifts, including hazardous duty hours, with every other weekend off.
• Acceptance of drug screening and a comprehensive medical exam upon conditional offer.

• Connecticut Valley Hospital – 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3rd Shift).
• Whiting Forensic Hospital – 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM (2nd Shift) – 2 openings.
