Delaware School for the Deaf, Christina School District

• Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware certification as Elementary Counselor, School Psychologist, or Elementary Teacher
• Three years of successful classroom experience preferred
• Fluency in American Sign Language preferred
• Experience supporting students with challenging behaviors preferred
• Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday
• Minimum lifting requirements: 50 pounds (with assistance)
• Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students

• Work directly with students, staff and administration in the area of school discipline
• Provide resource services to faculty designed to enhance classroom management, student achievement, and increase student interest in education
• Work with other members of the Student Support Team to monitor student progress and coordinate supports for students and their families related to academic, behavior, attendance, or related concerns
• Support a classroom environment that fosters embedded communication and social skills
• Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and families concerning their academic and behavioral progress
• Encourage students to behave in accordance with classroom and school rules and district code of conduct
• Collect, monitor, graph and analyze student data; keep accurate records and develop reports as required
• Assist in monitoring student attendance
• Coordinate the K-12 bullying prevention program with school counselors
• Promote school-wide displays for Positive Behavior Support and participate in available PBS and Responsive Classroom trainings
• Other duties as assigned
