As a recovery coach and recovery team member, the NA is responsible for implementing and reporting back on the goals and interventions listed in clients’ recovery plans. The NA also conducts therapeutic activities on the unit; assists with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, feeding, weighing, and walking clients; obtains and records vital signs; monitors clients on close visual observation such as 1:1 and Q15 minute checks;
documents in charts and on forms; participates in preventing and managing psychiatric and medical emergencies; ensures a safe and therapeutic environment on the unit by adhering to state and federal guidelines and by applying the principles of recovery and trauma informed care.

- Attends required classes including/not restricted to facility policies/procedures, nursing/therapeutic support methods, safety/security.
- Receives hands-on training, observing/assisting professional and higher level non-professional nursing/therapeutic staff.
- Monitors/records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, nutritional intake/output. Alerts professional staff to significant irregularities.
- Implements prescribed treatment plans involving reality orientation, sensory stimulation, range of motion exercise, and application of splints/braces. Provides oral/written description of individual's physical/behavioral change.
- Observes individual activities providing oral/written report of unusual/hazardous behavior.
- Observes/supervises individuals within facility surroundings ensuring appropriate location/security.
- Escorts/is responsible for individuals traveling to social/recreational activities and medical appointments on/off campus.
- Participates on interdisciplinary care team providing information about the individual's overall physical condition, abilities, and behavioral characteristics.
- Applies appropriate interventions to prevent or de-escalate inappropriate behaviors.
- Assists individual with personal hygiene.
- Maintains individual surroundings ensuring appropriate infection control/sanitary conditions, care/storage of linens and clothing.
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Nursing Assistant
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
- Six months' experience in applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of nursing procedures such as monitoring or recording temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration and nutritional intake/output.
- Knowledge of narrative report writing.

Conditions of HireAll new hires are required to attend an in-person, statewide mandatory New Employee Orientation on their first day of employment. The session will be held at a designated location in either Kent or New Castle County.
A satisfactory criminal background check is required and must be covered by the applicant, with an estimated cost of $85.00. Pre-employment drug testing is also required. Additionally, all new hires are required to complete a 2-Step TB/PPD test, which will be administered on their first day at the facility.
This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.
