Sign‑On Bonus
We are offering up to a $5,000 sign‑on bonus for Construction GPS Field Technician new hires. $2,500 is payable after 90 days of employment, and the remaining $2,500 is payable after 180 days.
Company Overview
SITECH Chesapeake, a wholly owned subsidiary of Carter Machinery Company, Inc., is hiring a Construction GPS Field Technician in Felton, Delaware. SITECH is the authorized dealer for Trimble Heavy and Civil construction products and services, as well as Accugrade grade control products, covering the panhandle of West Virginia, Virginia, the District of Columbia, and the shores of Delaware.
Job Summary
The Construction GPS Field Technician is responsible for installing and troubleshooting machine guidance systems on all types of earthmoving and paving equipment. The role includes performing complex troubleshooting and service repairs while serving as an escalation point for all SITECH team members on technical issues, conducting system demonstrations for customers, consulting contractors on best practices and construction processes, and acting as the technical liaison between SITECH and Trimble.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum 5 years experience operating, installing, and troubleshooting Machine Control Systems, including Trimble, Topcon, and Leica.
- Minimum 3 years experience working with OEM heavy equipment manufacturers such as Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Volvo, Hitachi, Weiler, BOMAG, and GOMACO.
- Experience using Total Station Robotics for grading and/or paving applications.
- High school diploma or GED, required.
- Minimum of three years relevant field experience for the $5,000 sign‑on bonus; less than three years eligible for a $2,000 bonus.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.

Physical Requirements
The position requires standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and speaking or hearing. The employee must regularly lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Additional duties may be assigned.
