Automotive Technician- 2nd Shift

Automotive Technician - 2nd Shift ($2,500-7,500 Sign On Bonus) at Car Max

Car Max is hiring 2nd-shift Automotive Technicians to inspect, diagnose, repair and recondition used vehicles (engines, brakes, steering/suspension, HVAC, etc.) in a fast-paced production environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, quality standards, physical stamina, a valid driver’s license, and required ASE certifications (where applicable). Car Max provides training, benefits, and a $2,500–$7,500 sign‑on bonus for external hires.

Hourly rate: $28.60 – $47.68.

• Inspect, recondition, and repair vehicles to ensure customers can drive away feeling safe and at ease.
• Work as part of a team to solve technical problems quickly and effectively.
• Build experience across a wide range of domestic and foreign vehicles.
• Follow and promote high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organization.

• Experience in engine repair, steering and suspension, brakes, heating and air conditioning.
• Knowledge of health and safety compliance.
• Manual dexterity and physical stamina; ability to lift heavy objects and walk/stand for extended periods.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Where required by state/local law, maintain ASE certifications.

Certified Technicians (Mechanical Associate
4):
Engine Repair (A1), Steering & Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), Heating & Air Conditioning (A7).

Master Certified Technicians (Mechanical Associate
5):
Engine Repair (A1), Transmission/Transaxle (A2), Manual Drive Train & Axles (A3), Steering & Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), Electrical (A6), Heating & Air Conditioning (A7), Engine Performance (A8).
