Salary: $130,000 - $150,000 + Bonus + Benefits
Our client, a growing and well-established commercial real estate organization in the Middletown, NJ area, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its accounting team. This position will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting activities for a portfolio of commercial properties and related entities. The ideal candidate will have a strong property accounting background, experience working with real estate financial reporting, and the ability to collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Oversee the monthly close process for an assigned portfolio of properties and related entities
- Review monthly operating reports and financial statements prepared by an outsourced accounting team
- Prepare lender and investor reporting packages and monitor compliance with reporting requirements and loan covenants
- Coordinate construction and capital draw submissions with lenders
- Monitor and manage cash activity, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Collaborate with Asset Management, Property Management, and executive leadership on financial matters
- Participate in the annual budgeting and forecasting process
- Coordinate year-end audit and tax preparation activities with external auditors and tax professionals
- Review financial statement and tax return drafts prior to final submission
- Review CAM reconciliations and assist with tenant-related financial inquiries
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and company policies
- Partner with third-party accounting providers to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial reporting
- Support special projects and other accounting initiatives as needed
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 3 years of property accounting experience
- Strong understanding of commercial real estate accounting principles
- Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements
- Proficiency with Yardi or similar real estate accounting software
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
