Position: Typist 1 (Employment & Training Administration) - SUNY Orange
Job Description:

The Employment & Training Administration is currently seeking a full-time Typist 1 to join their team.

The Typist 1 will provide administrative support and assistance to the Employment & Training Administration (ETA) and the Department of Labor units at the Middletown Career Center. This role will provide front desk coverage and resource room assistance to consumers as well as assist walk-ins. This is a public-facing role that involves extensive interaction with the general public.

Key responsibilities include:

* Provide front desk customer services including greeting and directing consumers appropriately to intended resources.

* Collecting documentation for DSS and ETA, providing information about programs, giving applications and related tasks.

* Maintain a professional environment, report any problems to the supervisor, keep reference materials stocked and neat, answer multiple phones and direct calls efficiently. Make copies for consumers.

* Data entry and referral to resources. Creating and maintaining records in online databases.

* Assist staff and supervisors with administrative support, tasks and projects as needed. This may include mailings, customer program attendance, orientation set up, follow up, timesheet collection and support for all units of ETA and DSS.

Requirements:

Education and Experience

Required:

Graduation from high school or high school equivalency (GED/HSE). Prior clerical experience and/or office skills training.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

* Experience working with the public.

* Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills.

* Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook email.

* Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with supervising personnel, coworkers, and all constituents and the public.

* Perform well under pressure, within time constraints, with a high degree of accuracy, diplomacy and confidentiality.

* Ability to coordinate workflow while dealing with multiple projects and deadlines.

Salary: $22.00 per hour, full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9:00AM - 5:00PM.
