Job Description:
Responsibilities:
The person in this position, working closely with other staff members from the Office of Advising, will perform a variety of registration related clerical and detailed data input activities, including but not limited to, assisting students registering online and utilizing online resources; reviewing students' records for eligibility, scheduling appointments, monitoring student traffic and online tracking system; inputting student-advisor assignment and updating major change requests data in the system;
answering telephone and directing calls to proper person/department; answering email and in-person inquiries from students, staff and general public; perform general clerical duties such as merging data documents and mailing, filing, sorting mail, data standard clean-up and related work as needed.
Hours:
Monday - Friday, 9:00AM - 5:00PM, (40 hours per week - one hour paid lunch). Some evening hours may be required. During peak registration periods, the schedule may be adjusted to include evening hours 11:00AM-7:00PM once or twice per week. Work schedules may vary during registration cycles to meet operational demands. No regularly scheduled vacation or time off permitted during peak registration periods.
* NOTE:
This title may be filled in one of the below two manners:
1. Through Non-Competitive appointment in accordance with the HELP Program; OR
2. Appointment off the appropriate Civil service competitive list

Experience
Required:
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and two (2) years of office clerical experience which shall have included keyboarding. Ability to type at a rate of 35 words per minute.
Experience Preferred: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, computer/ technology experience, ability to multitask, work independently and follow directions. Effective phone etiquette skills and ability to meet office project deadlines. Research skills and highly organized, attentive to detail. Bilingual preferred, not required. Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-based environment.
