Mechanical Engineer – MEP Design (All Experience Levels)

This role offers an opportunity for mechanical engineers at all experience levels who are passionate about Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEP/FP) design to join a dynamic, growing team. You will contribute to the design and coordination of building systems for schools, healthcare facilities, commercial offices, and retail environments, while working in a stable, career-focused firm that provides strong training, mentorship, and comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical and broader MEP systems, including HVAC, chilled water, hot water, and fire protection systems, for regional projects in the education, healthcare, business, and retail sectors.
  • Develop and refine detailed construction drawings and design documents using AutoCAD, and collaborate closely with CAD operators to ensure accuracy, coordination, and timely completion of deliverables.
  • Support and perform project management activities on small and medium-sized projects, including planning tasks, tracking progress, and coordinating with other engineers, designers, and project stakeholders.
  • Execute engineering design tasks on large and complex projects under the direction of a principal engineer, ensuring that all design elements integrate effectively with other disciplines and building systems.

  • Utilize MS Office tools to prepare reports, calculations, schedules, and project documentation that support design decisions and client communication.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure that mechanical and MEP designs align with overall building design objectives, including energy efficiency, comfort, and operational reliability.

Essential Skills

  • 5–10+ years of design experience in the engineering field, with a focus on mechanical and MEP building systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in MEP design projects, including HVAC, chilled water, hot water, and building systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for producing and modifying engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications for documentation, coordination, and communication.
  • Strong understanding of building systems design, including mechanical, HVAC, and fire protection systems.
  • Knowledge of building codes, standards, and building structures relevant to MEP and mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in project management or project coordination within engineering or building design projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, CAD operators, and other project stakeholders.
  • Ability to work on both small and medium-sized projects independently and to contribute to large or complex projects under the guidance of a principal engineer.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
