Summit Academy School – Summit Academy for Alternative Learners, Middletown, Ohio.

Job Summary

Provide a quality educational program to students under direct supervision. Work with a diverse student body and utilize effective teaching practices.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree.
  • Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate or license.
  • English Language Arts licensure for grades 7–12 or Middle Grades 4–9 ELA/Social Studies.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities in Instruction, Classroom, Professional attitudes and growth, Personal characteristics.
  • Passing criminal background check by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Records (or equivalent).
  • Meet all health requirements as mandated by law.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with all employees.
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate evidence of effective planning and organization.
  • Use a variety of instructional methods and techniques to meet student needs.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of subject matter taught.
  • Show interest in classroom environment.
  • Encourage proper care and usage of equipment, furnishings, and materials.
  • Be receptive to new ideas and exhibit a positive attitude toward colleagues, students, parents/guardians, special service personnel, support staff, administrators, visitors, and the public.
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport, classroom routine, and teacher expectations.
  • Adhere to Summit Academy’s Instructional Design and the Teacher Handbook.
  • Uphold school rules and maintain professional behavior and appearance.
  • Demonstrate correct use of the written and spoken word.
  • Evaluate and report student progress on the approved reporting tool and as scheduled.
  • Participate in professional improvement activities and curriculum committees.
  • Plan, implement, and complete an Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP) as prescribed by the LPDC.
  • All other responsibilities as assigned by the School Director and CEO.
