Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)

Accountable for manning the power plant control room in an effort to assist the engineering team in operating and maintaining the power facility. Responsible for ongoing monitoring and safe operation of 800 MW combined cycle power plant in accordance with all safe engineering practices, including monitoring and oversight of environmental permit limits. Responsibilities include monitoring and operating performance monitoring equipment, creating and maintaining plant records, issuing lockout/tag-out permits, hot work permits and confined space entry permits.

Accountable for proper implementation of lockout/tag-outs, how work permits and overall safety program and procedures for all disciples during assigned shift(s).

Job Responsibilities
  • Journey-level; specialized technical knowledge with function.
  • Performs a variety of technical service/support duties that are semi-routine in nature.
  • Routine and non-routine decisions with some latitude, but still subject to approval.
  • With limited guidance, prioritizes and executes responsibilities effectively for a single trade, group of related tasks or functional area.
  • Work periodically reviewed by others; work reflects solid performance of duties.
  • Errors have small and possibly incremental impact on department or facility, and discovered in succeeding operations where work is verified or checked.
  • Completes tasks and resolves problems that require an ability to recognize deviation from accepted practices.
  • Resolves most questions and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels.
  • Prioritizes daily activities to complete tasks/projects assigned by others.
  • May assist with orienting and training employees in moderately complex to complex areas.
Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma and attendance in trade school, military service or equivalent.
  • Journey-level; generally, 5 years directly related experience including applied knowledge of steam and electric power plant operations and equipment. Requires background and applied skills in at least three maintenance or technical disciplines such as engineering, mechanics, electronics, water chemistry, instrument and control and/or gas turbines.
  • Strong computer skills including experience working with spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software.
  • Basic certifications/licensures. Valid state driver’s license.
Salary Information
  • Fixed Hourly Rate - $65.8262
