Mechanical Engineering Co-Op

PAC by Pro Ampac in Middletown Ohio is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op for the Spring and Summer semesters of 2022.

Engineering Co-Ops work under the guidance of the Engineering/innovation team members to work on various levels innovation projects duties.

• Current enrollment in a 2-year or 4-year Engineering program with coursework completed in an Engineering field

• 3D CAD modeling and drafting experience preferred

• A self-motivated and team-oriented attitude

• Interest in working hands‑on in an office and manufacturing environment

As a co‑op at PAC you will have the opportunity to:

• Learn to design using Solid Edge and Teamcenter programs for 3D machine design.

• Design/modify the machines in support of new products development.

• Design equipment to be used by our R&D department and for our customers.

• Gain exposure to most manufacturing processes. We utilize precision machined parts weldments and fabricated sheet metal parts in our designs. The co‑op will learn about these processes as well as how and when to apply these types of parts in their design assignments.

• Gain exposure to different materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, plastics, etc.) and how to apply them. This exposure will include applying appropriate finishes such as painting, plating and anodizing.

• Exposure to commercial parts such as gearboxes, bearings, linear rails, drive belts, pulleys, sprockets, chain and pneumatics to name a few. The co‑op student will learn how and when to apply these and other components in their design assignments.

• Perform light assembly work when applicable.

• At PAC our co‑op students will not only create design content but will see their designs fabricated and installed on our machines.

• Be exposed to 3D printing for prototype designs.

• Bring your imagination. This is a highly creative environment, especially if this role is in support to the innovation team. Our ideal candidates will have a strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn and creativity.

• Ask lots of questions. The design engineers here are always willing to help; many of us started out in this field as co‑op students too.
