To conduct outreach to CPH patients and other community residents to inform and enroll them into appropriate health insurance programs. In addition, this position meets CPH patients to assist with financial assistance programs such as sliding, hardship forgiveness, and payment plans while treating all patients with dignity and respect.
Job Duties Outreach and Enrollment- Provide education and awareness of affordable health insurance programs/exchanges, in a manner that is fair, accurate and impartial, culturally and linguistically appropriate to diverse communities, and accessible to individuals with disabilities.
- Conduct outreach activities to patients and non-patients in CPH’s service area. This may include health fairs, health departments, hospitals, urgent, physician offices, and human services agencies (DJFS, WIC, etc.) Facilitate the Ohio Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility and Marketplace Exchange enrollment process for patients and the Marketplace Exchange enrollment process for non-patient community members.
- Proactively contact uninsured patients prior to scheduled appointments to assess insurance status and offer financial options. Assist patients and families in problem-solving to improve their ability to access integrated healthcare.
- Tracks annual assists for Outreach and Enrollment (O&E) and Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) reporting, including quarterly reports and annual Uniform Data System (UDS) reporting.
- Attend all required federal, state, and local training programs regarding outreach and enrollment.
- Attend job-related and professional activities, requiring travel within the local and regional area, with infrequent state or national meetings for networking, training, and conferences.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
- Register new patients accurately and efficiently, verifying demographic, insurance, and eligibility information in compliance with FQHC and federal guidelines.
- Screen patients for sliding fee scale eligibility and assist with financial intake documentation.
- Obtain and scan required documents (, insurance, income verification) into the electronic health record (EHR).
- Educate patients on clinic services, policies, patient rights, and responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HRSA, and organizational policies while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Coordinate with clinical, billing, and eligibility staff to resolve registration or coverage issues promptly.
Education
:
High School Diploma required.
Certification and Licensure
:
Will be required to get certified in state insurance plans if not already certified.
Experience
:
Prefer experience in health care or related field. Minimum of one year of customer service with data entry experience with attention to detail.
- Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills, working with diverse populations and a broad spectrum of staff and inquiries.
- Ability to ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to multi-task. Assist with form completions, monitoring registries, providing screening tools and surveys, files, and records in a confidential, accurate, and timely manner.
- Possess basic mathematical skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Electronic medical record experience preferred.
