The Receiving Clerk/Custodian position is responsible for ensuring accurate receipt, storage, and inventory of food deliveries, as well as maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary facility environment in support of the senior nutrition program.
This is a part-time role, Mon-Fri, that requires a flexible start/end time based on scheduled deliveries.

This role supports efficient kitchen and facility operations by maintaining proper food handling practices, inventory control, and cleanliness standards, while ensuring compliance with agency policies, food safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements. The position requires strong communication and coordination with kitchen staff, drivers, and supervisors, as well as flexibility to support program needs.

Receiving & Inventory Management
  • Accurately receive and inspect all food and supply deliveries.
  • Verify deliveries against purchase orders and report discrepancies.
  • Ensure all items are properly labeled, dated, and stored according to food safety standards (FIFO rotation).
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with inventory counts as needed.
  • Communicate stock levels, shortages, and concerns to the Production Supervisor.
  • Maintain organization of storage areas, refrigerators, and freezers.
Food Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, including proper temperature monitoring and storage practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food storage areas.
  • Follow all applicable health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Support documentation requirements related to food handling, storage, and inventory.
Custodial & Sanitation
  • Maintain cleanliness of all assigned areas, including restrooms, kitchens, storage areas, and common spaces.
  • Sweep, mop, dust, and sanitize floors and surfaces daily or as needed.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers regularly.

    Ensure restrooms are cleaned and stocked daily.
  • Maintain cleanliness of tiled floors and high‑traffic areas.
  • Ensure facility and housekeeping areas are secured at the end of the workday.
Operations Support & Coordination
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, production supervisor, delivery personnel, and drivers.
  • Assist with supply tracking and ensure adequate inventory for program operations.
  • Support proper documentation of supply usage and operational activities.
  • Assist with basic reporting and record keeping as required.
Safety, Security & Facility Monitoring
  • Conduct routine inspections of the building and report maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with agency safety protocols and procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of building conditions and communicate issues promptly.
  • Support secure handling of supplies and facility access.
Communication & Teamwork
  • Maintain positive working relationships with staff and program participants.
  • Communicate effectively regarding delivery issues, inventory needs, and facility concerns.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and respect in all interactions.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, temperatures, supply usage, and related activities.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, confidentiality requirements, and Code of Ethics.
  • Follow all applicable program service requirements (e.g., nutrition program standards, elder services sensitivity).
“20” Additional Duties
  • Assist with special projects or facility needs.
  • Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Provide backup support for related operational tasks as needed, including delivering meals to clients.
