Job Summary
This position, under the close supervision of a manager or in collaboration with a senior-level Chemist, is responsible for performing laboratory tests designed to evaluate the quality and consistency of finished products, intermediates, and raw materials, as well as the condition and continued usability of used fluids obtained from customer processes. The role supports the quality program by validating the integrity of incoming and outgoing goods and services.
Job DescriptionNight shift schedule: 6:00PM – 6:30AM.
$3per hour shift differential payment.
- Utilize documented methods to test raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods against established specifications.
- Communicate findings of non-conforming materials or products to appropriate business partners.
- Apply sound judgment in interpreting test observations and resulting data.
- Accurately, clearly, and promptly record and report results in accordance with specified guidelines and standard operating procedures.
- Recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Calibrate measuring equipment according to schedule and maintain laboratory equipment, glassware, and work spaces in a clean, organized, and functional condition.
- Participate in root cause investigations and assist in adjusting out-of-specification batches.
- Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental standards and properly dispose of laboratory waste.
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with Regional Development and/or the Analytical Lab to implement new or enhanced test procedures.
- Demonstrate initiative in troubleshooting equipment and procedures, and recommend changes to improve outcomes.
- Follow all ISO quality and environmental standards as outlined in procedural manuals.
- May be responsible for coaching or directing the work of QC Technician I in all areas of responsibility.
- High School diploma/GED equivalent required.
- B.S. in Hard Science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Microbiology) or related science preferred.
- Minimum 3years of related experience required.
- Must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and think analytically.
- Good prioritization and communication skills (oral and written).
Works in a manufacturing environment and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and some hazardous or caustic chemicals. May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical shock risk, trip and slip hazards.
Physical Demands- May be required to lift up to 50pounds.
- May be required to stand for long periods and walk moderate distances daily.
- Routinely required to reach with hands and arms.
- May be required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
