RN First Assistant; RNFA

Position Summary

7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
, A clinically competent, registered professional nurse responsible for the direct and indirect care of patients based on established standards. The RN First Assistant (RNFA) collaborates with the surgeon in performing an invasive or operative procedure in a safe manner with optimal outcomes for the patient whose protective reflexes or self‑care abilities are potentially compromised. Responsible for knowledge and implementation of the mission, vision, and values of Atrium Medical Center.

Full time, 72 hours per pay period.

• Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program (BSN preferred).
• Current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Ohio.
• Current Certification in Operating Room Nursing.
• Attended a First Assistant Program including clinical hours.

• Current hospital experience within the past five years; at least two of those years in Operating Room Nursing.
• CNOR certification and First Assistant Certification required.

• Willing to work with acutely ill patients, including in emergency situations.
• Works independently and as a team member; capable of functioning as a charge nurse when assigned.
• Adaptable to changing environment.
• Practice consistent with Ohio Board of Nursing standards and regulations, and the Standards, Recommended Practices and Guidelines of the Association of Operating Room Nurses.

• Potential exposure to communicable diseases, odors, infections, radiation, etc.
• Must be able to work in a very busy, stressful environment.
