Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead the daily operations of a busy truck maintenance garage in Middletown, Ohio.

The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the maintenance team and coordinate the safe, timely, and efficient maintenance and repair of commercial trucks, trailers, roll-off trucks, and related equipment
.

This is a working leadership position for an experienced mechanic or maintenance professional who can lead technicians while remaining hands-on with diagnostics, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and mechanical repairs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining fleet readiness, minimizing equipment downtime, ensuring accurate maintenance records, and promoting a strong culture of safety, accountability, and quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Garage Operations
  • Lead, supervise, and provide daily direction to garage maintenance personnel.
  • Assign, prioritize, and monitor maintenance and repair work.
  • Coordinate daily workflow based on fleet requirements and operational priorities.
  • Monitor work quality, productivity, and completion of assigned repairs.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and support to maintenance team members.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, productivity, and quality workmanship.
  • Establish maintenance priorities to maximize fleet availability and minimize downtime.
Truck & Fleet Maintenance
  • Oversee preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs for commercial trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
  • Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engines, mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, air systems, brakes, and other truck components.
  • Oversee brake repair, tire-related maintenance, engine troubleshooting, and general truck repairs.
  • Support the maintenance and repair of roll-off trucks and other heavy-duty fleet equipment.
  • Monitor vehicle and equipment condition and identify potential mechanical or safety concerns.
  • Respond to urgent equipment breakdowns and prioritize repairs based on safety and operational needs.
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, diesel, and basic electrical problems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical assistance to maintenance technicians during complex repairs.
  • Identify recurring mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions.
Preventive Maintenance & Fleet Readiness
  • Manage and monitor preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure vehicles and equipment receive required inspections and servicing.
  • Track equipment condition and maintenance requirements.
  • Prioritize repairs based on safety, operational requirements, equipment condition, and fleet availability.
  • Help reduce recurring breakdowns and improve overall fleet reliability.
Documentation & Maintenance Records
  • Ensure service tickets, work orders, inspection records, and maintenance documentation are accurate and completed on time.
  • Maintain organized records of preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Track maintenance history and recurring equipment issues.
  • Utilize a CMMS or computerized maintenance tracking system when applicable.
  • Communicate major repairs, equipment downtime, and maintenance priorities to management.
Parts, Inventory & Vendors
  • Coordinate parts, materials, tools, and supplies required for maintenance and repairs.
  • Monitor maintenance and parts inventory.
  • Identify and source replacement components as needed.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors, suppliers, and repair providers.
  • Help determine whether specialized repairs should be completed internally or outsourced.
Safety & Compliance
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout the garage.
  • Ensure employees follow company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable DOT, OSHA, and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe garage environment.
