Position: Safety Manager - 3 Mile Island, PA

Construction Safety Manager (Second Shift)

Location: Three Mile Island, PA

Duration: 9 Months (Start: Immediate Need)

Type: 1099 Contractor

Compensation & Schedule

Pay Rate: $60/hr

Per Diem: $150/Day

Completion Bonus: $150/month

Pay Frequency: Weekly

Schedule: Monday-Sunday | 3:00 PM - 1:00 AM | 70 Hours Per Week

Additional Schedule Details: Second-shift lead safety position supporting outage-style work at an active nuclear facility.

Join a contractor supporting a nuclear facility maintenance and restoration project at Three Mile Island, PA. Project scope includes paint removal, surface preparation, industrial coatings, swing-stage scaffold operations, and elevated work activities.

The Construction Safety Manager will provide field safety oversight for painting and coating crews while supporting AHAs, JHAs, pre-task planning, toolbox talks, and day-to-day safety compliance throughout the project.

Required Qualifications
  • 4-Year Degree in Safety and/or BCSP Certification (CHST Minimum)
  • Previous Nuclear Site Experience Required
  • Experience Supporting Industrial Painting, Coatings, and Paint Removal Operations
  • Knowledge of Needle Gunning Operations
  • Experience with Swing-Stage Scaffolding and Elevated Work Activities
  • Strong Understanding of Fall Protection Programs
  • Experience with Respiratory Protection Programs
  • Knowledge of Heat Stress Management and Noise Exposure Controls
  • Ability to Lead and Support AHAs, JHAs, Toolbox Talks and Pre-Task Planning
  • Must Pass Required Background Check and Drug Screen
  • Must Be Clean Shaven and Able to Wear a Respirator
Preferred Qualifications
  • CSP, ASP, CHST, or Other BCSP Credential
  • Nuclear Outage Experience
  • Industrial Maintenance Experience
  • Coatings and Corrosion Control Experience
  • Scaffold Competent Person Training
  • Experience Supporting Utility or Power Generation Facilities
What You'll Be Doing
  • Serve as the lead safety representative for all second-shift operations
  • Provide direct field safety oversight for paint removal, surface preparation, and industrial coating activities
  • Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, AHAs, JHAs, and pre-task planning discussions
  • Monitor work involving needle gunning, swing-stage scaffolding, elevated work, fall protection, respiratory protection, heat stress, and noise exposure hazards
  • Identify hazards in the field and develop corrective actions with project supervision and craft leadership
  • Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and client representatives
  • Serve as the primary safety liaison during second-shift operations
  • Mentor field personnel and reinforce project safety expectations
  • Conduct audits, observations, inspections, and compliance reviews
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation
  • Maintain project safety documentation and reporting requirements
  • Promote a proactive safety culture while providing leadership and direction to the workforce

Success in this role requires providing visible leadership in the field, building strong relationships with craft personnel and supervision, proactively identifying hazards, maintaining regulatory compliance, and ensuring painting and coating operations are executed safely throughout all second-shift activities.
