Position Description

What You’ll Be Doing

You will collaborate with the Director of Sandpipers to structure and implement a program that will meet the needs of the children enrolled into the center and their families. Communicate with, and support families to promote each child’s inclusion in all ongoing classroom activities and assist in obtaining and coordinating services to meet the needs of the child. The Education Coordinator will manage the site and be responsible for the day-to-day needs and activities of the children;

and supervise the childcare staff to ensure appropriate delivery of the program as well as the safety and wellbeing of the children. Additionally, the Education Coordinator will oversee the state funded Pre-K classrooms and staff.

Your Main Priorities

While additional responsibilities are likely to arise on the job, you will primarily:

  • Assist the Program Director in conducting regular staff meetings and coordinating trainings.
  • Supervise interns in the program (i.e., assign, orient, train, and evaluate).
  • Meet regularly with program staff to complete supervision, and review classroom activities – determine any program changes as needed.
  • Provide training and resource materials for staff to ensure understanding of appropriate activities for children in the program.
  • Maintain accurate and updated files for children, reviews developmental profile for each child.
  • Promote wholesome interpersonal relationships among staff and support a holistic approach to strengthen the delivery of services to children and their families.
  • Prioritize the health and safety of children and staff by maintaining a clean and safe environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities and stays up to date on relevant industry topics.
Physical Requirements
  • Direct Service Staff:
    This position requires time sitting, standing, walking, carrying and lifting up to 25lbs. This role also requires operating desktop, laptop and/or cell phone, and communicating with colleagues.
