Job Description

About the Role We are seeking a dynamic and innovative CTE Teacher to lead a high‑quality Computer Science and Engineering pathway for grades 9–12. We deliver rigorous, hands‑on instruction that prepares students for college, careers, and industry credentials in high‑demand STEM fields. The program is aligned with Rhode Island CTE standards, CS4RI competencies, and PLTW curriculum expectations, ensuring students engage in authentic, real‑world learning experiences.

The specific requirements for a successful candidate is to deliver curriculum services that are aligned to the MHS CTE Comprehensive Learning Needs Assessment that is required and approved by the RI Department of Education.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, project‑based instruction that strengthens computational thinking, engineering design, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Maintain a coherent 9–12 pathway aligned to college, career, credential, and CS4RI priorities.
  • Ensure equitable access to rigorous computer science and engineering coursework for all students.
  • Sustain and engage in potential, emerging and established partnerships with industry and postsecondary institutions to enhance real‑world learning.
  • Participate in and support a CTE Advisory Council to ensure program relevance and continuous improvement.
  • Promote and track high‑quality work‑based learning experiences in collaboration with CTE colleagues and career coordinator.
  • Align and deliver industry‑recognized credential opportunities required by the Rhode Island Department of Education.
  • Support and promote field trips, guest speakers, and local learning experiences aligned to program content.
  • Collaborate with school counselors and staff to support student career planning and Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
  • Use data to improve instruction, student outcomes, and program quality.
  • Participate in CTE Showcase, recruitment events, and other student outreach efforts.
  • Maintain compliance with Rhode Island CTE program approval requirements and engage in ongoing professional learning, including Project Lead The Way expectations.
Job Requirements

Required

  • Valid Rhode Island certification in Technology Education or related field
  • CTE endorsement (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Strong knowledge of computer science, engineering, and/or cybersecurity aligned to state and industry standards
  • Ability to support and maintain partnerships with industry and support advisory structures
  • Alignment to the Collegeboard AP exam expectations
  • PLTW Course completion or willingness to be trained

Preferred

  • Experience teaching AP Computer Science or related coursework
  • Experience in STEAM related field as related to Pre‑Engineering
  • Industry experience in computer science, engineering, or cybersecurity
  • Experience with CTE program development, advisory boards, or work‑based learning
  • Completion of Project Lead The Way Core Training in assigned course(s), or willingness to complete within one (1) year of hire, with demonstrated ability to implement PLTW curriculum with fidelity

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
