Mechanical Test Engineer - Confidential

Middletown, RI |

Contract:

1st Shift, 5/40 | Pay Rate: $69.89/hr | Benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401k

Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Active/Current DoD Confidential Personnel Clearance (PCL) required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and at least 2 years of relevant experience; an advanced degree may substitute for additional years of experience
  • Hands‑on mechanical aptitude and willingness to work in a lab environment
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform instrumentation planning and conduct all hardware tests, including vibration, mechanical shock, temperature, altitude, humidity and structural testing
  • Acquire and analyze dynamic and thermal data
  • Coordinate test fixture design
  • Work independently and take ownership of program/project to achieve schedule, financial and technical goals
  • Prepare test plans, schedules, test reports and technical documentation
  • Collaborate with design engineering, structural analysis personnel, manufacturing engineering and commercial customers
  • Provide technical expertise to programs as needed
  • Provide factory and supplier testing support domestically and internationally
  • Generate detailed archival technical reports
  • Travel to test sites for support of testing or design discussion (as required)
  • Travel to domestic Raytheon sites, suppliers and government facilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering; ABET accreditation preferred but not required
  • Experience in hardware and environmental testing (dynamic shock/vibration, climatic, structural)
  • Experience in signal processing, data acquisition, field test instrumentation or structural testing
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment and independently
  • Experience with solid modeling CAD tools such as CREO or equivalent
  • Experience with Matlab
  • Experience presenting to external customers

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities
