MIKEL, a small woman‑owned business, has provided undersea warfare solutions to the Department of Defense since 1999.
Position: UK TWCS ILS/ISE Support
Nature of Role: This position is part of a team that delivers Fleet support and Configuration Management (CM)/Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) for UK Submarine Tomahawk, including documentation, engineering, and remote/onsite technical support. Work will be performed on site in Newport, RI, with some telework available.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in documentation validations and verifications, including desktop and lab reviews.
- Support documentation authoring and updating for programmatic and technical documentation such as Hardware Technical Manual, In‑Service Support Plan, Integrated Logistics Support Plan, Installation Guidance Package, and Provisioning Parts List.
- Assist government leads in reviewing, updating, and executing Fleet Maintenance Training as required.
- Collaborate with the supply support team on UK‑specific parts requirements, including obsolescence reviews and form/fit/function replacements.
- Respond to in‑service issues and provide distance support when required.
- Assist with real‑world operations when the UK system becomes operational, including 24/7 support.
- Participate in meetings with the internal team, program office, and UK representatives.
- Interface with UK Tomahawk lead engineer and other team members.
- Travel to attend Working Groups, training, and other planned or unplanned events.
- Respond to emergency fleet issues after the UK system becomes operational, including off‑hour office presence or support during real‑world strike events, as needed.
- Maintain NMCI SIPR access.
Skills & Experience:
- Basic understanding of UK Tomahawk hardware and software.
- Basic understanding of UK Tomahawk policies and procedures.
- Ability to multi‑task and quickly learn and apply new information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM).
- Primarily desk‑based work with occasional on‑site technical support in NUWC test bays.
- Team‑oriented, willing to integrate with team members.
- Follow instructions with strong critical‑thinking skills.
- Prior military experience preferred (preferably a submarine Fire Control Technician) or a bachelor’s degree with 5 to 7 years of experience in Fleet Support or Systems Engineering.
- Experience with U.S. Naval operations and tactical/technical publications for translation to UK FMS.
Work Location: Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC), Newport, RI.
