PURVIS Systems is a technology solutions partner that develops, implements and maintains mission-critical solutions for federal and local government agencies.
PURVIS has a requirement for a Systems Trainer. The ideal candidate is a strong team player who can work both collaboratively and independently. The role involves training, briefing, and certifying systems for crews onboard submarines and at all submarine ports. The candidate must manage multiple projects and tasks in a rapidly evolving environment, conduct research, and recommend software and hardware solutions.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential due to the time‑critical nature of the US Navy Submarine community.
- Conduct Operating System training, configuration, and certification for Windows and RHEL systems onboard submarines.
- Conduct system briefs to Commanding Officers and crew.
- Develop, maintain, test, and repair Special Projects System software and hardware for NUWC Code 34 Special Projects Office.
- Assist in developing various templates to support Special Projects requirements.
- Assist in system preparation prior to shipment and installation.
- Create and implement testing procedures for RHEL and Windows systems.
- Assist in the installation of computer systems onboard submarines.
- Perform cybersecurity scans.
- Travel requirement: 30%.
- Information Technology experience with 5+ years in submarine operations.
- Experience in curriculum development and implementation of Microsoft Windows Server 2019, Microsoft Windows 10, and RHEL 7.
- Ability to interface with senior military and civilian personnel during onboard certification.
- Experience with at‑sea operations on a deployed submarine.
- Knowledge of Common Submarine Radio Room (CSRR) equipment configurations.
- 2–3 years of Windows Administration.
- 2–3 years of Linux (RHEL) Administration.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to think outside the box.
- 2–3 years working with virtual machine hypervisors (KVM/QEMU, VMWare, etc.).
- 2–3 years working with switches and routers (virtual or physical).
- Experience with iPXE or PXE.
- Experience with Postfix/Dovecot.
- Experience with ACAS/Nessus/SCCP security compliance scanning.
- CompTIA A+
- CompTIA Security+
- RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator)
Position requires a government security clearance to the TOP SECRET/SCI level.
