CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant

Job Description

Duties:

  • Assist nurses and other healthcare professionals in providing direct patient care.
  • Perform basic nursing procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Take and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and feeding patients.
  • Help patients with mobility and transfers.
  • Collect specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Monitor patients' condition and report any changes to the nursing staff.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe patient environment.
  • Follow proper aseptic technique to prevent infection transmission.
  • Provide catheter care as needed.

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a nursing assistant or similar role is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and anatomy is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality is essential.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems such as Epic is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in taking accurate vital signs and recording them correctly.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a nursing assistant training program is preferred.
  • Current certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) is highly desirable but not always required, depending on state regulations.
  • Must have a valid CPR certification.
