Reports to: Principal/Athletic Director
Job Goals: To provide an educational environment designed to help students succeed academically in accordance with the system's philosophy, goals, and objectives by establishing effective rapport with students, motivating them to develop essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge, utilizing technology to enhance the curriculum, and implementing an effective educational program using the designated course of study, appropriate materials, and best instructional practices.
Additionally, serve as a student advocate, role model, and professional resource for parents, the community, and the school system.
- Conduct scheduled classes in an organized & professional manner.
- Supervise students at all times.
- Report to the school administration and system’s athletic director.
- Assist with extra duties related to the supervision of students (lunch period, bus duties, assemblies, field trips, etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
- Demonstrate support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
- Show knowledge and understanding of child development.
- Utilize technology to plan and provide instruction and facilitate student learning.
- Model appropriate and innovative use of technology for students.
- Facilitate and monitor the integration of technology in the classroom.
- Provide modifications for students with special needs, including exceptional education students and students who have limited proficiency in English.
- Select, develop, modify and/or adapt materials and resources that support learning objectives and address students’ varying learning styles and backgrounds.
- Create a learning climate that is challenging.
- Engage in personal professional growth, adhere to professional standards and demonstrate professional ethics, sound judgment and leadership.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, school, workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
- Demonstrate initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
- Respond to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.
- Properly care for equipment and material resources of the school system.
- Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state federal and local laws.
- Report absences and take leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures; prepare for substitutes according to Board policies and school procedures.
- Current Alabama Teacher’s Certification, Bachelor’s Degree or higher with an endorsement in Physical Education.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups, for maximizing student achievement.
- Ability to develop and implement curriculum and programming specific to the needs of students at the designated grade level(s) and in the designated content area(s)/subject(s).
- Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
- Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of personnel.
Salary RangeSalary is based on Board approved salary schedule based on rank, certification and experience. Actual salary will be determined upon verification of experience.
