Job Summary

The Special Education Paraprofessional works one-on-one with students receiving special education support.

Assignment Information

• Part-Time
• Up to 29 Hours/Week
• Monday - Friday (when instruction is in session)
• $15.50/Hour - Starting wage is based on the current Midland Federation of Paraprofessionals Master Bargaining Agreement

Qualifications and Education

• REQUIRED:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent
• REQUIRED:
  
  Highly Qualified (HQ) Status
• Completed minimum of 60 college credits
  -or-
• Hold an Associate's Degree or higher
  -or-
• ETS Para Pro Assessment Qualifying score of 460+. The ETSParaPro Assessment is a general aptitude test used to assess the skills and knowledge of prospective and practicing paraprofessionals in areas like reading, writing, and math, according to ETS.
• PREFERRED: CPR/First Aid certified (willing to be provided training)

• Proven organization and time management skills
• Dependable Attendance
• Ability to explain curriculum expectations following directive from teacher
• Ability to work professionally with staff, students, parents and other providers
• Ability to provide positive guidance to students in a manner that communicates dignity and respect
• Basic understanding of technology
• Ability to assist with personal care needs
• Able to sit, stand, bend, and walk frequently
• Some lifting may be required
• Experience and/or knowledge of behavioral management techniques
