Overview
Business Unit Controller / Plant Controller –
Reports to:
Regional Operations Controller Closures, North America.
Location:
Hybrid Midland, MI. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
The Controller ensures the integrity of financial information and provides a financial perspective in local decision-making. This business partnership role supports strategic and operational decisions, maintains internal control, and promotes Aptar's corporate culture and values. The position reports solid line to the Regional Operations Controller and dotted line to the Local Operations Director.
Responsibilities- Assist in creating the cross-regional business unit
- Manage financial aspects related to cross-regional business unit perimeter
- Financial Integrity:
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information to support local decision-making - Process Harmonization:
Harmonize and align controlling processes across plants and regions for consistent and efficient financial reporting and analysis - Business Partnership:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing financial perspective to operating issues, generate/analyze/interpret/explain financial information to support sound operating decisions and educate management on financial implications - Predictive Analytics:
Develop and implement predictive analytics models to forecast financial performance, identify trends, and support strategic planning; utilize cross-functional data (S&OP) to improve accuracy and relevance of forecasts (Quarterly, Budget, 5YP) - Financial Analysis:
Analyze and interpret financial data to support operational decisions, evaluate opportunities, and review capital expenditures - Internal Controls:
Maintain a robust internal control environment, including annual SOX testing, ensuring compliance with tax and statutory requirements, and safeguarding company assets; prepare filings for a public company (10K, 10Q, etc.) - Contract Management:
Review contracts with customers and suppliers to assess financial impacts and risks - Team Development:
Promote growth and training of the finance team to ensure succession planning
- Required:
College or university business degree (accounting or finance degree strongly preferred) - Preferred: MBA or comparable degree/CPA or comparable certificate
- SAP or similar software experience related to financial analysis and reporting
- Financial experience in multinational public environment within manufacturing
- Experience in creating strategic business plans
- 7+ years relative experience in field
- Proven leadership and cooperative capabilities, including formal department supervisory experience
- Ability to work in multicultural environments, manage multiple priorities, strong IT skills, and excellent decision-making and leadership abilities
- Language:
English mandatory;
Spanish, German, or Italian is a plus - Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Global travel up to 25% as part of cross-regional business unit management
