Position: Physical Therapist I

Physical Therapist I

May be eligible for sign‑on bonus up to $10,000.

This position delegates responsibility to Physical Therapist Assistants and Aides. Activities are patient‑focused and utilize assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in accordance with physical therapy standards, physician orders,ัจจa governing policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluates the patient’s function by performing formal and informal testing measures to determine the skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status. (20 %)
  • Develops a goal‑specific treatment regime based on assessment data and the patient’s tolerance, then carries out the treatment plan as prescribed. (20 %)
  • Submits a written treatment regime to be included as part.viewport of the plan of treatment authorized by and coordinated with the physician; updates the plan of care as needed and co‑signs verbal orders received by PTAs as necessary. (20 %)
  • Devises a schedule of treatment, specifying frequency каран and duration, and coordinates it with the patient, family, caregiver and clinical support staff. (20 %)
  • Educates patient, family, and/or caregiver regarding the condition, alternativesummet al prognosis, and rationale for treatment through forms of rest, exercise, modalities, and other indicated interventions. (20 %)
  • Provides supervision for PTAs, PT Aides, Home Health Aides, and students per affiliate and regulatory standards.
  • Recommends adaptive or supportive equipment based on assessment, contacts supplier to place orders, and assists in securing equipment for the patient.

  • Documents the patient or caregiver response to treatment and changes in patient condition per documentation policies and standards.
  • Completes daily documentation required for billing procedures per affiliate policy and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrates competence to facilitate or restore optimal functioning in the therapist’s patient care area.
  • Educates patient and caregiver through a home education program using effective teaching methods.
  • Displays effective oral and written communication with internal and external customers, maximizing patient care quality and coordinating interdisciplinary team members.
  • Promotes education and development among staff, students, and other healthcare providers using effective teaching methods.
  • Promotes process improvement and assists with program development.
  • Participates in team conferences and interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate.
  • Promotes the physical therapy profession within My Michigan Health and the service area, including community education.
  • Functions as a case manager for assigned cases.
  • Demonstrates commitment to My Michigan Health and specific affiliate mission, evidenced by customer service, quality of service, and teamwork.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient and affiliate information in accordance with policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science (BACH) in Physical Therapy (Essential)
Experience, Training, and Skills
  • Successful completion of My Michigan Health and affiliate‑specific orientation.
  • Successful completion of new hire competency.
  • Current Michigan driver’s license and reliable transportation, with ability to drive under hazardous road conditions as necessary.
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English for interaction at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrating problem‑solving, organizational, time‑management, and initiative skills.
  • Mandatory OSHA compliance, annually updated per the Exposure Control Plan.
  • Ability to work where exposure to communicable diseases may occur.
  • Proficient use of personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to demonstrate and teach selected treatment routines to professional and non‑professional individuals.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodation.
Physical/Mental Requirements and Typical Working Conditions
  • Exposure to stressful situations, including public contact, trauma, grief, and death.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including latex where required.
  • Mobility with or without an assisted device; ability to perform all job functions other than the aforementioned.
  • Vision and hearing (with or without assistive devices) sufficient for job medically required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk for long periods and perform postural changes such as stooping and kneeling.
  • Periodic exposure

    Variance to blood‑borne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials – adherence to blood‑borne pathogen and TB testing per policy.
  • Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must occasionally lift or carry 21–50 lbs, frequently lift 20 lbs, and maintain forthcoming 10 lbs loads for up to 67–100 % of the workday.
