Summary
This position cares for patients before, during and after an electrophysiology procedure. This position cares for Structural heart (including Watchman), Lead extractions, ablations, Vascular and EP pacemaker / device patients. This includes pre‑procedure assessment, pre‑medication, documentation of procedural process, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, mapping, post‑procedure care and patient education.
Responsibilities- Performs nursing care for the above outlined procedures, but not limited to: (35%)
- Circulates and assists during cases, including sterically dropping procedural supplies on tray, scrubbing in the case, running for supplies. (35%)
- Records all pertinent information on appropriate data sheets. (15%)
- Assists Radiologic Technologists circusing cases, sterically dropping procedural supplies on tray. (15%)
- Collaborates with physicians to provide a plan of care for each individualized patient.
- Assists in other radiology/cardiology procedures as needed.
- Performs clinical functions as needed.
- Delegation and coordination of tasks and assignment of nursing care.
- Presumes responsibility for professional growth by seeking out educational opportunities and utilizing programs in the hospital.
- Precepts/mentors new employees and students.

- Credential: BLS – Basic Life Support
- Credential: ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Required
Education:
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASSOC). Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
Education Specialization:
NRG
- Knowledge of critical care nursing as normally acquired through 2 years of experience working in a medical center or similar setting.
- Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts clearly.
- Preferred:
Electrophysiology skills as gained through a minimum of 1 year of experience working in an electrophysiology lab environment.
- Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as trauma, grief and death.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes wearing lead and latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
- Is able to move freely about the facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
- Overall vision and hearing are necessary with or without assisted device(s).
- Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
- Some exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow My Michigan Health blood‑borne pathogen and TB testing as required.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance, and ability to stay awake.
- Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering, and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0‑33% of the workday) lift or carry 21‑50 lbs., frequently 34‑66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or walk/stand/push/pull with arm/leg controls and constantly (67‑100% of the workday) 10 lbs.
