Summary
Responsible for providing practical, timely and high-quality contracting and procurement services for a broad range of supplies, equipment, and purchased services across My Michigan Health. Partners with departments, service line leaders, and operational stakeholders to support sourcing initiatives, evaluate purchasing opportunities, negotiate supplier agreements, and facilitate procurement activities that align with organizational objectives.
Serves as a key resource in the acquisition process by conducting market research, analyzing products and pricing, supporting contract administration, and coordinating implementation activities. Applies sound business judgement, procurement best practices, and data‑driven analysis to support quality, service, standardization, and cost‑management goals while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and established sourcing strategies.
Responsibilities- (30%) Purchasing & Sourcing
Supports departmental purchasing and sourcing activities through product, equipment, and supplier research, quotation analysis, market evaluation, and supplier engagement. Facilitates the acquisition of supplies, purchased services, and capital equipment while assisting with supplier negotiations related to pricing, delivery schedules, and contractual terms. Provides recommendations based on operational requirements, pricing analysis, and organizational sourcing objectives.
- (30%) Contract Administration & Customer Support
Supports the administration and implementation of contracts to ensure compliance with negotiated pricing, terms, and conditions. Serves as a resource to departments, suppliers, and organizational stakeholders by addressing purchasing‑related inquiries, researching invoice discrepancies, resolving supplier concerns, and assisting with requisition review, order placement, and order tracking activities.
- (20%) Analysis & Reporting
Analyzes pricing, utilization, spend data, and supplier information to support purchasing decisions and cost‑management initiatives. Monitors market conditions, supplier performance, and purchasing trends to identify opportunities for operational improvements, standardization, and savings. Maintains purchasing, supplier, and contract information with MMIS and related systems to support reporting and decision‑making activities.
- (20%) Project & Value Analysis Support
Participates in sourcing, implementation, Value Analysis, and process improvement initiatives that support organizational goals. Assists with product evaluations, equipment implementations, contract transitions, and sourcing events including Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and Requests for Proposal (RFP). Contributes to standardization efforts and project activities designed to improve quality, service, and financial performance.

Required EducationAssociate’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field preferred.
Experience, Training and Skills- Experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, healthcare materials management, or a related field.
- Knowledge of GPO contracts and healthcare supply chain operations preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and MMIS/ERP systems.
- Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Must not lift or carry more than 10 lbs (0‑33% of the workday). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time and may require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow My Michigan Health blood borne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, attend regularly and stay awake.
Requires overall dexterity, including handling, reaching, grasping and repetitive movements. Physical Demand Level: Sedentary.
