Job Description Responsibilities
- Review electronic files received from clients and check them for thoroughness and completeness before the plate‑making process.
- Use desktop publishing software to manipulate the format of the print job to the dimensions of the paper.
- Determine page layout, accounting for folds, trims, bleeds and gripper, and add crop marks and color bars as necessary.
- Identify missing or problematic components and communicate them to Customer Service Reps, customers, and production personnel.
- Work directly with Customer Service Reps, customers, and production personnel to resolve any job‑related problems.
- Load customer‑supplied electronic files for output onto the Pre‑Press file server.
- Create an electronic image of the pages to produce manufacturing proofs used by the Press and Bind operators during the manufacturing process.
- Prepare color proofs for customer review when required.
- Train and support new and existing team members.
- Proficiency with graphic design and layout software commonly used on Macs and PCs.
- Good understanding of digital file formats (PDF, TIFF, EPS) across different operating systems.
- Basic color‑management skills and ability to output digital files to various devices; willingness to continually learn new graphics software.
- Understanding of the offset printing process and how color interactions affect each other.
- Mechanical skills using small hand tools for minor repairs and maintenance on flatbed scanners, image setters, and automated film‑processing equipment.
The salary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $15.50 - $17.50 / hour. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. In addition to the hourly rate, the total compensation package may include overtime, shift differential, call‑in, and/or standby pay.
