2nd Shift Plant Operator – Midland, MI (Acetylene)
Location:
Midland, MI – Acetylene production and filling. Shift time: 2nd Shift (1:30pm‑9:30pm), Monday‑Friday.
- Safely handle and fill gas products into liquid, medical, and high‑pressure gas cylinders in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and Airgas standard operating procedures.
- Perform cylinder analyses and support alignment with government and company standards.
- Calculate gas mixtures to meet quality standards and document results.
- Ensure each mixture can be safely produced and coordinate cylinder and valve combinations for compatibility and compliance.
- Operate control panels containing valves and pressure gauges, and scale with a precision‑oriented approach to gas mixtures.
- Complete all production records accurately.
- Uphold and promote company procedures and government regulations related to the safe handling of hazardous materials.
- Safely operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse/material‑handling equipment.
- Load and unload cylinders on and off pallets, ensuring they are securely strapped.
- Contribute to team success as needed.
- Required: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide variety of people and backgrounds.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Detail‑oriented.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.
- Adherence to Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all applicable rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Preferred: High‑school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in manufacturing operations or loading.
- Strong background in the gas, welding and safety supply, or chemical industry.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift.
