This position performs a variety of integrated functions, intuitively, using the nursing process while applying broad nursing knowledge in a caring, concerned manner.
Responsibilities- Assesses patient for physical, emotional, psych/social and family support (25%)*
- Organizes and coordinates all aspects of patient care according to the patient’s real and/or perceived needs (25%)*
- Evaluates patient progress by correlating patient information with nursing knowledge to determine if goals are being met according to the patient’s plan of care or clinical path (25%)*
- Consults and collaborates with members of the health care team in planning and implementing total patient care for individuals (25%)*
- Demonstrates proficiency in nursing skills to carry out the patient’s plan of care.
- Communicates interactions, both verbal and written, that clearly and positively accomplish desired patient care as a collaborative effort.
- Educates patients and families.
- Provides teaching, support and coordination of health care plans for patient and family through the acute phase of illness, as needed.
- Promotes clinical knowledge development including critical thinking skills and improves strategies for comparing clinical judgment through research and continuing education.
- Has appropriate access to the medication room and supply room for stocking during regular job duties.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support;
Equivalent
Experience:

Experience:
Within 6 months of hire or transfer;
Employees hired on or before 12/31/2023 have 24 months to complete this certification.
- Associated Degree (ASSOC).
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
- Specialization: NRG.
Completion of orientation process as directed by the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nurse manager and critical care educator.
Interpersonal skills to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels.
Competency in Microsoft Windows; may require further learning opportunities.
PCCN certification preferred.
Physical and Mental RequirementsExposure to stressful situations, public contact, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment including latex materials or appropriate substitutes.
Must be able to move freely and perform job functions as outlined.
Vision and hearing are necessary, with or without assistive devices.
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time; may require stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material; must follow blood borne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Must handle multiple tasks, work independently, maintain regular and predictable attendance, and stay awake.
Overall dexterity required for handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling; may involve repetition.
Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 20 lbs., and constantly 10 lbs.
