Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Job Summary:

Seeking a qualified Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical unit specializing in oncology, providing comprehensive care to patients with cancer diagnoses, medical step-down cases, and general medical overflow. The role requires assessing patient needs, implementing care plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' needs regularly and deliver skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician's authorized plan of care, adhering to accepted nursing standards.
• Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, treatments, responding to alarms, assisting with transfers, and managing clinical assessments.
• Evaluate treatment effectiveness and patient condition to suggest improvements and update care plans in collaboration with healthcare team members.
• Process physician/provider orders accurately, completely, and promptly, ensuring timely patient care delivery.
• Follow up on medication changes and clarify orders to maintain accurate treatment records.
• Document all patient interactions, assessments, and interventions thoroughly in Epic EMR.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical experience; oncology experience required.
• Proven ability to care for step-down patients.
• Prior travel work history highly preferred.
• Proficiency in Epic EMR preferred.
• Active Michigan license, verified via Lara/Nursys.
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Valid Michigan nursing license.
