Nurse Anesthetist CRNA CALL

Summary

This position, in collaboration with a physician, develops an anesthesia care plan. It provides IV sedation and/or monitored anesthesia care, and administers general, regional, or local anesthesia for a variety of surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedures. The professional monitors patients accurately and performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), ventilation, or life‑support measures during emergencies throughout the Medical Center. The role manages the patient’s physiological condition while under anesthesia and initiates corrective actions as necessary or as directed by a physician.

The clinician also assists with other departmental or professional duties as requested by the Manager of Anesthesiology.

• Perform pre‑anesthetic evaluation and preparation.
• Prepare the operating room suite for all types of anesthesia.
• Administer, manage, and monitor anesthesia care during induction, maintenance, and emergence.
• Provide post‑anesthesia care and evaluation.

• ACLS:
  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (equivalent experience: within 12 months of hire or transfer)
• RN:
  Registered Nurse (essential)
• BLS:
  Basic Life Support (equivalent experience: within 3 months of hire or transfer)
• CRNA:
  Certified RN Anesthetist (essential)
• NBCRNA:
  National Board Certified RN (essential)

Master’s degree in Nurse Anesthesia. Equivalent experience may include knowledge of anesthesia normally acquired through completion of an accredited nurse anesthesia program culminating in certification and licensure in the State of Michigan, or the candidate may be in the process of completing final coursework and awaiting state board certification.

• Strong written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in basic and advanced anesthesia skills including venipuncture, arterial line insertion, medication calculation, sterile technique, airway maintenance, and administration of regional anesthetics.
• Compliance with all Medical Center policies and practices as described in the employee handbook.
• Competency in Microsoft Windows operating systems.
• Preferred certification:
  Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

• Exposure to stressful situations, including public contact, trauma, grief, and death.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including latex or substitutes.
• Mobility throughout the facility with or without assistance, and capability to perform all job functions.
• Visual and hearing requirements, with or without assisted devices.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
• Exposure to blood borne pathogens and other infectious materials; compliance with blood borne pathogen and TB testing.
• Capacity to handle multiple tasks, work independently, and maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Dexterity for handling, reaching, grasping, and manipulating instruments.

Physical Demand Level: Light. Occasionally (0‑33% of the workday) lift or carry 11‑20 lbs.; frequently (34‑66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and/or perform walk/stand/push/pull of arm/leg controls.
