Acuren is currently recruiting an Assistant Controller who will oversee the day‑to‑day performance of activities of the Finance/Accounting Department. This is a key management position that will draw upon one's expertise in analyzing and validating complex data, completing detailed reports, and ensuring the integrity of systems and information.
Responsibilities- Reviewing and validating financial information by:
- Reviewing general journal entries and validating with supporting documentation
- Assessing compliance with internal controls and practices
- Identifying anomalies and independently investigating and validating prior to posting
- Resolving any discrepancies and providing documentation and/or explanation and resolution
- Reconciling, resolving issues with, and reporting on alignment of sub-ledger accounts with the general ledger
- Supporting effective financial decision making by:
- Completing monthly reports and account reconciliations
- Generating trial balances to identify errors and follow up with corrections
- Ensuring reconciled items are cleared in a timely manner to support accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Developing customized reports
- Preparing draft financial statements and verifying against trial balance and other customized reports
- Reviewing final financial statements for accuracy and completeness
- Supporting and contributing to the success of the department by:
- Validating appropriate practices, procedures and controls are in place to generate timely and accurate invoicing
- Ensuring government filings are completed in a timely and efficient manner
- Recommending continuous improvement to accounting processes and systems
- Sharing expertise with less senior staff and supporting their ongoing development
- Assisting with job-costing analysis, and other miscellaneous financial projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Professional Accounting Designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA)
- Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in the industrial or commercial sector
