* Job Description:

** Job Summary The Buyer prepares purchase orders, solicits bid proposals, and reviews and approves requisitions for goods and services; interviews vendors and visits supplier facilities to examine products, services and prices; builds and maintains relationships with internal customers and vendors, and acts as supervisory direct report to assigned personnel.

Responsibilities
* Prepare purchase orders for, solicit bid proposals, and review and approve requisitions for goods and services.
* Complies with and executes Category Management strategy in accordance with policies and procedures.
* Expedites and issues change orders to meet maintenance, field or project demands
* Interview vendors and visit supplier facilities to examine and learn about products, services, and prices
* Evaluate, negotiate with suppliers, and select suppliers based on price, quality, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities for good and services not covered under Category Management.
* Manage vendor contract compliance by ensuring vendor performance satisfies requirements established in the contract Scope of Work
* Maintain an appropriate supply schedule by determining reorder points of frequently purchased goods
* Oversee computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories for assigned categories
* Act as the primary liaison and focal point to support designated business units, including being responsible for the coordination of procurement strategies and plans, processes, resources, and interfaces.
* Build and maintain relationships with internal customers and vendors, address needs, and mitigate product or service supply/quality issues
* Mentor and train procurement personnel, as needed.
* Act as supervisory direct report for assigned personnel (i.e., performance management, corrective action, training, defining daily priorities, creating work schedules, etc.)
* Manage time and attendance for assigned personnel including timecard approval or paid time off
* Assist in the hiring of assigned personnel when needed (i.e., collaborate with Human Resources recruiters, perform interviews, select qualified talent, etc.)
* Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
* Other duties as assigned Qualifications
* Minimum 6 years of purchasing, supply chain or project management experience, preferred
* Bachelor’s Degree, preferred (equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree)
* Power Generation, Utilities, Electrical Distribution, Oil and gas industry experience, strongly preferred
* Strong leadership characteristics, able to coach, mentor, train, track performance, enact corrective action, and delegate duties to a team
* Highly Personable and collaborative, able to work with cross-functional teams to reach a common objective
* Good written and verbal communication skills, able to effectively communicate with vendors and personnel at all levels of the organization
* Proficient working with Microsoft Office 365 applications and able to quickly other work-related software systems
* Familiarity with technical specifications for equipment and materials used in power generation (e.g., turbines, reciprocating gas engines, gas processing equipment, electrical components)
* Strong understanding of major OEMs and suppliers in the power generation sector, covering turbine generators, gas reciprocating engine generators, and essential distribution components (cabling, transformers, switch gear, etc.).
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents, preferred.
* Proven experience overseeing parts and equipment throughout the full purchasing process—quoting, order placement, lead‑time management, and delivery coordination
* Highly organized and detail oriented with strong time management skills
* Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, able to utilize data to shape objectives
